Nituff
Nituff is a new and dynamic process that allows Hard Anodising films to be impregnated with P.T.F.E., to achieve a self caring, self lubricating surface with low friction, high corrosion resistance and dielectric properties superior to that of ordinary Hard Anodised coatings.
Features
Alloy Suitability: Wrought alloys - 1200, 3003, 3103, 5052, 5083, 5086, 5251, 6061, 6063, 6082, 6262, 7075. Sand or chilcast alloys - LM4, LM5, LM25. Other alloys may be processed but results will vary and we strongly recommend that a sample part be processed for evaluation.
Dielectric Resistance: - 2000 volts for coatings with a 50 microfilm thickness when tested per A.S.T.M. B110.
Thermal Resistance: - Operating range - 150oC to 300oC. Withstands thermal shock from liquid Nitrogen to water at room temperature, without evidence of coating separation from the substrate.
Wear and Abrasion: - Exceeds Mil 8625/D spec. Tabour abrasion requirements by 10-30% dependent on alloy type.
Lubricity: - Substantially reduces static and dynamic friction, as compared to Hard Anodised and bare aluminium. Coefficient of friction as low as 0.05 and has been measured down to 0.02, but is dependent on alloy composition and surface finish.
Corrosion Resistance: - Exceeds the basic 336hr salt spray test requirements as per A.S.T.M. B117 by 2000 hrs. Withstands extended exposure when tested in solutions within the pH range 3.0 - 9.5.
Cleanability: - A non-contamination surface, with easy clean characteristics.
Hardness: - 300 450 VPN dependent on alloy type.
Colour: - Colour will vary with alloy and film thickness but generally is of a mid to dark grey.
